Wowie!

Ok, so it has been awhile since I last update this blog. My apologies!
SO much has happened with Molly James Photography over the past few months, that it has been hard to stop and take it all in (let alone, sit down and blog about it, haha). But, enough excuses...here goes!

"The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me..." (Psalm 138:8)

The past few months have seen this verse come to life! Years ago, God began the stirring in my heart to pursue photography. I grew up watching (with great humility) as my grandfather would capture amazing portraits and nature photography and watching my grandmother paint extraordinary works of art. I saw art come to life. Well, God has made it quite clear to me that with my photography, He is fulfilling His purpose for me. His purpose is coming to life just as the art of my grandparents did so many years ago.

What is His purpose for Molly James Photography?
I recently had a senior portrait session booked in Galveston. The beautiful young lady, Stephanie, was an absolute JOY to work with! She is amazing and so full of a God-given personality! I was so excited to work with her because she is so versatile--she can rock some black pumps and a retro dress one minute, and the next she can be stunning in (yes, I am serious) a Mexican pancho. (Which is exactly what she wore for our session). Anyways, I digress. Long story short, I posted a few of her pics yesterday as a little "taste" of our session and her comment on one of the pictures made me realize why I do what I do.

In a nutshell, she said, "Thank you for saying I'm gorgeous. I know God made me special but sometimes I lose sight of that and don't feel like it. He is using you and your craft to make people like me feel pretty."

Wow.

So, after being a huge wuss and tearing up a bit, I had to just stop what I was doing and thank God for revealing to me the impact that my photography can have on the hearts of my clients. Whether it is offering a new mom encouragement while shooting a session with her and her newborn...or patiently working with a family who has special needs and don't ever really get to have a family picture...or highlighting a beautiful girl who sometimes doesn't feel as beautiful as God has made her to be.......

This is why I am here. This is why I do what I do.

This is Molly James Photography...and it is all through Him and for Him.

Baby Emily

Last week, Baby Emily was welcomed into this world. She came in her own timing and at 36 weeks decided that it was showtime! She is my precious baby niece and it was my privilege to get to give her her very first photo shoot yesterday morning. My sister let me have full "artistic freedom" and for that, I am SO thankful! She let me try some wacky ideas (most of which turned out GREAT...we won't talk about the other ones haha) and the results are breath-taking! Baby Emily's gallery will be up on my site tomorrow and I can't wait to receive some honest feedback from you all! Here are a few "teasers" from the shoot...please comment and let me know what you think!

and so it begins...

Welcome to the new Molly James Photography blog! Wahoo! Try to contain your excitement! If you're a mommy like me then the only time you really have to read blogs is when your kiddos are asleep...so try not to squeal too loudly with delight!

I want to let this blog be all about the amazing clients that I come across! It is such an awesome opportunity to get to feel like I'm a member of all different families...even if it's just for an hour or so. From weddings to maternity sessions, I am always amazed at what a creative God we have! He has made us all truly unique and it is my aim that no two photographs of mine are the same. Unique by design!

Two weekends ago I had the privilege of being triple-booked! Here are some visual "snacks" from those shoots...

First we have the Thiel Family. They were an absolute joy to work with! Although we were all dripping with sweat by the end of the shoot (and we had to literally run back to the entrance to avoid them locking us in the park), we all had a great time! I look forward to future shoots with y'all!

Next we have the Pitman Family. I've personally known this incredible family for five years but it feels like my own family and I are simply extended members of the Pitman crew! They kept me relaxed and having fun the entire shoot! From duck "remnants" to Susan slipping on a rock and almost falling in the water, it was a great morning! I can't wait until you need my services again!

After the Pitmans, I ran across town to do my sister's maternity session! I got to do her previous maternity session (in 2008) and it was so cool to see how much I've personally learned about my craft since then! Thank you, Nordlander Family, for letting me overtake your home with my props and backgrounds! (And Dana, thanks for not thinking I was crazy for taking some of the pics I did! They turned out amazing!)

Well folks, there we have it! The first official blog post to the first official Molly James Photography blog! I can't wait to update with more portraits as I book jobs! If you are interested in booking a session with me or would like more information, please contact me via my website (mollyjamesphotography.com), email: molly@mollyjamesphotography.com, or through facebook (facebook.com/mollyjamesphotography).
